1. Introduction
WorkingHomes is committed to reducing the environmental impact of our business and encouraging sustainable practice across the homes and partners we work with. As an accommodation business, our biggest opportunity is simple: housing crews close to their site means shorter daily commutes, less fuel and fewer vehicles on the road.
2. Our commitments
- Shorter journeys — prioritising homes close to site, with parking that suits shared vehicles.
- Digital first — paperless quotes, agreements, check-in information and invoices.
- Efficient homes — favouring homes with energy-efficient heating, cooling and appliances.
- Less waste — encouraging recycling and responsible waste disposal in every home we use.
- Raising awareness — helping our team, clients and partners make lower-impact choices.
3. Actions we take
- considering travel distance to site and energy efficiency when we shortlist homes;
- including recycling and energy-saving guidance in house rules for crews;
- keeping our own operations digital and minimising business travel;
- choosing suppliers with sound environmental practices where we can; and
- tracking our impact and looking for ways to reduce it each year.
4. Review and accountability
We review this policy every year to make sure it remains effective. Our directors are accountable for it, and we encourage everyone we work with to support its aims.
